Granny's Calamari Spicy Avocados
1 sm shallot, minced
1 sm garlic clove, minced
1/8 bn basil, chopped
1/4 bn cilantro, chopped
1/4 bn mint, chopped
1 x lemon, juiced
2 x limes, juiced
1/3 cup fish sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup grapeseed oil
1 lb Monterey Bay calamari, thinly sliced and quickly sauteed in canola or
grapeseed oil for 2-3 seconds OR 1 pound cooked Dungeness
crab meat
For spicy avocado:
2 x ripe avocados
1 lrg shallot, minced
1 sm garlic clove, minced
2 x limes, juiced
1 x scallion, sliced thin
1 sm tomato, seeded and diced
1 tsp Tabasco or chili sauce
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Method :
For marinade: In a non-reactive bowl, combine all marinade ingredients, stirring
well; marinate seafood for 1 hour.
For spicy avocado: In a mixing bowl, roughly mash avocados with fork. Add
remaining ingredients and continue lightly mixing.
To serve: Place seafood mixture on a serving plate. Spoon spicy avocado on top.
