 Granny's Sourdough Biscuits

 

The starter 

2 envelopes active dry yeast
21/2 cups lukewarm water
Flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add enough flour to make a consistency of thick butter milk.
Place in warm spot about 75 to 80 degrees F, away from drafts. Let stand overnight. Then cover
and  keep in refrigerate if not used for several days. When you measure out some to use, bring
to room temperature before mixing.

The Biscuits

2 tbs butter or lard
1 tbs sugar
1 pinch salt
1 cup starter
2 tsp baking powder
Flour to make a stiff dough

Combine the measured ingredients, then add flour bit by bit to make the dough, which
should be stiffer than regular biscuits dough. Knead. and shape into biscuits. Place on well greased
baking sheet and let stand in warm place about 85 degrees F until the double in size. Bake @
450 F until brown about 15 min. Try one of these  Butters
