Lynn's Onion Steaks

2 1/2 to 3 pounds boneless round steak
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 medium onion
2 cups beef broth
1/2 cup ketchup
4 whole cloves
Trim excess fat from round steak; cut into serving size pieces. Sprinkle flour evenly on both sides of steak pieces, then pound with a meat mallet to tenderize and flatten. Melt shortening in a large Dutch oven; brown steaks on both sides. Combine remaining ingredients, stirring well; pour over steaks. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 2 to 2-1/2 hours or until round steak is tender, adding more water if needed. Country Round Steak serves 6 to 8.
