James's Texas Cornbread

11/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbs baking powder
2 eggs
6 tbs butter melted and cooled
8 tbs melted then cooled vegetable shortening
11/2 cups milk

Preheat oven to 400F. Sift dry ingredients. Beat eggs lightly; add butter, shortening
and stir in milk. Add the dry ingredients. Mix until Smooth. Do not over beat.
Pour into greased8x12 baking pan and bake@ 400F for 30 mins or until brown.
