Fig Preserves
1 cup dried figs like calimyrnas
1 orange
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp dry mustard
1/2 to 1 tsp coarsely black pepper
1/2 tsp kosher salt
Place the figs in saucepan. Peel the orange and add strips of peel to pan.
Juice the orange and add juice to pan. Add sugar, mustard, pepper, salt and1/3
cup water.
Bring to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally until thick and lightly
caramelized. Cool completely.
Fig Preserves
4 cups figs
1 cup sugar
1/2 lemon, thinly slices and seeded
Trim stems and wash figs. Put in heavy bottom pan with all ingredients and
1cup water. Simmer over low heat until a thick syrup forms. Transfer to 2 sterilized
pint jar and cover with sterilized lid. And seal in hot water bath as recommended
by manufactures.
Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest
summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and
should have.
