Kat's Sweet Potato Ham Casserole

1 center slice ham, about 12 to 16 ounces
3 medium sweet potatoes, about 1 1/2 pounds, peeled and sliced 1/4-inch thick
2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
4 apples, quartered
3/4 cup hot water
PREPARATION:

Brown the ham on both sides; place in baking dish. Spread apples and sliced sweet potatoes over ham then sprinkle with brown sugar. Add hot water. Cover and bake at 350° for about 60 minutes, or until tender. 
Baste occasionally while cooking. Remove cover last 15 minutes. 
Serves 4.
