Shanna's Turkey Divan Soup



1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter
2 1/2 cups chicken or turkey stock or 2 cans (10 1/2 oz each) chicken broth
1 clove garlic, minced
2 cups heavy cream
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 stalks broccoli, blanched and cut up
2 cups leftover cooked turkey
4 ounces turkey ham, cut into strips
Saute onion in butter; add stock and garlic. Stir in cream and seasonings. Heat for 10 minutes without boiling. Add cheese, broccoli, turkey and turkey ham; warm over low heat until cheese melts. Serve immediately. Top with additional shredded cheese, if desired.
Makes 4 servings.
