Texas Red Beans and Rice

 

1 bag boil-in-bag rice
1 can (15.5 oz)  dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 pound jalapeno beef or spicy beef sausage, thin sliced
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper

Prepare rice according to package directions. Drain and set aside. Using the same pot, combine beans, sausage, onion, bell pepper and 1/2 cup water. Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low heat and cook for 10 more minutes. Add rice and season to taste with salt and pepper.
