Granny's Cajun Marinara Sauce


one quarter cup olive oil
2 cups chopped onions
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon dried basil or
3 tablespoons fresh basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano or
1 tablespoon fresh oregano
one quarter cup minced flat leaf Italian parsley
1 bay leaf
2 cups beef stock
1 10 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 - 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 - 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
one quarter teaspoon salt
one quarter teaspoon black pepper


 Heat olive oil in medium saucepot. Add onions, garlic, basil, oregano, parsley and bay leaf. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
 Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 45 minutes.
