          Lynn's Raisin Sauce 

 

1/2 cup brown sugar 
2 tablespoons cornstarch 
1 teaspoon dry mustard 
1 tablespoon vinegar 
1 cup raisins 
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel 
2 tablespoons lemon juice 
1 1/2 cups water 
Raisin sauce directions 
Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and dry mustard in a small saucepan. Place saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add vinegar, raisins, lemon peel, lemon juice and water. Continue cooking raisin sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Serve raisin sauce with ham.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups of raisin sauce

1/2 cup water 
1/3 cup raisins 
1/3 cup currant jelly 
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest 
1/2 cup orange juice 
2 tablespoons light brown sugar, firmly packed 
1 tablespoon cornstarch 
dash salt 
dash allspice 
Directions for raisin sauce 
In a small saucepan over medium heat combine water, raisins, currant jelly, orange zest, and orange juice. Bring raisin sauce mixture to a boil. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, and allspice. Stir into raisin sauce mixture. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is thick and clear. Serve raisin sauce warm with ham. Makes about 1 1/4 cups of raisin sauce

1 cup sugar 
1/2 cup water 
1 cup raisins 
2 tablespoons butter 
2 tablespoons cider vinegar 
dash Tabasco sauce 
1/2 teaspoon salt 
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 
2 teaspoons cornstarch 
Directions for raisin sauce 
In a saucepan, combine sugar, water raisins, butter, vinegar, Tabasco sauce, salt, and ground cloves; bring to boil. Cook until raisins are plumped. Dissolve cornstarch in a few teaspoons of cold water; stir until dissolved. Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into the hot mixture. Cook and stir until slightly thickened and clear.
Makes about 2 cups of raisin sauce
