Smothered Chicken
Granny's Breast Sour Cream Smothered Chicken
1/2 stick (or less) butter
1 chicken, cut in pieces or 6 chicken breasts
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. sour cream or sour cream substitute
2 c. water
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. poppy seeds
1 tsp. lemon juice
In large skillet melt butter. Brown chicken and remove from skillet. Add flour
drippings and stir well. Blend in sour cream and add remaining ingredients. Mix
well and bring to boil. Return chicken to skillet; simmer covered for 1 hour.
Serve over noodles or rice.
